Pig'n'Porter?

The Pig ‘N’ Porter is Ireland’s largest and best sporting festival!

Limerick’s Pig ‘N’ Porter Festival is a three day event held every July and this year, we celebrate our 10th anniversary!!!!

Old Crescent RFC, in association with the Irish Tag Rugby Association (ITRA), will host the 2011 Pig ‘N’ Porter Festival at its grounds in Rosbrien, Limerick between Friday 15 July and Sunday 17 July.

The festival, with SCRUMPTIOUS food and GREAT live music, is expected to attract in excess of 4,000 people to the venue for the largest Tag Rugby event in the world, with 120 participating teams.

Strong tradition…

The event started with 12 teams in 2002, had over 100 teams last year from all across Ireland and the UK and this year we have 120 teams, eager to win the coveted Pig ‘N’ Porter trophy! The festival brings a large number of visitors to Limerick for the weekend and it is always a huge success. Since its inception, we’ve had more than 10,000 participants and we’re delighted to be a permanent fixture on Limerick’s sporting calendar, especially this year as Limerick holds the title of “European City of Sport 2011″.

Supporters of the event include Shannon Development and Bord Fáilte. The development of sports tourism is an integral part of Shannon Development’s tourism strategy and events such as the Pig ‘N’ Porter (Tag Rugby) Festival enable us to showcase the proud sporting tradition of Limerick to a wide audience. Sporting festivals like the Pig ‘N’ Porter Festival provide a welcome boost to the tourism and hospitality sectors including accommodation providers, bars, restaurants and visitor attractions.
